Northland police are stopping every car entering the district but may not be able to do so when it gets busier

Northland police are stopping every car entering the district but may not be able to do so when it gets busier

The border's come down between Auckland and Northland but there are two checkpoints in place at Uretiti and Maungaturoto.

Northland District Police commander Tony Hill says it's been quiet overnight but is starting to pick up now.

That's mainly Northlanders who are travelling for work.

He says there are low numbers of vehicles so every one of them is being checked.

Hill says people leaving Auckland are ready to provide evidence of double vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test and aren't being delayed much at all.

He says only one person's turned up at the border without the right documents.
