    To a pioneering athletics achievement by a New Zealand male


    Previously Tania Murray was the only winner in the discipline at Auckland in 1990.

    Kerr cleared 2.25 metres and won on count back.

    Maddy Wesche has earned bronze after throwing 18.84 metres, 19 centimetres short of winner Sarah Mitton of Canada.



    Lewis Clareburt has secured his third medal with bronze in the 200 individual medley.

    He also took golds in the 400 IM and the 200 butterfly.



    David Liti has been denied back to back golds, taking silver in the 109-kilogram plus weightlifting with a combined lift of 394 kilograms.

    He cleared 170kg in the snatch and 224 in the clean and jerk.
