Christchurch City Council is proposing amending its Alcohol Restrictions in Public Places Bylaw for the park and surrounding area, specifically during events of more than four thousand people.
It comes as a person was allegedly stabbed outside the park, following Belgian DJ, Netsky's concert earlier this year.
Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board Chair Paul McMahon says event organisers can still apply for special licenses to serve alcohol at events.
He says Police have linked alcohol to a string of issues in the area, including family harm, assault and driving issues.
Consultation ends on the 30th of October.
