Kim Kardashian West was horrified by accusations she was "doing blackface" to promote her beauty line

The 37-year-old reality star - who is married to rapper Kanye West - was slammed by some social media users for appearing to darken her skin to promote her KKW Beauty brand, which launched earlier this year

In a teaser for the new episode of 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians', Kim watches some of her own promotional material and tells her assistant Stephanie Shepherd: "People are saying I'm doing blackface.

"I did a photoshoot, there were some people online saying the photos were inappropriate."

Kim - who has 23-month-old son Saint and daughter North, four, with her outspoken husband - explained that she was particularly concerned by the reaction because it came so soon after she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris in October 2016.

Speaking to her mother Kris Jenner, Kim shared: "I am nervous just because I've been slowly taking my time to come back.

"It's hard for me to get back out there."

Kim also admitted the launch of her own make-up brand meant a lot to her, because it was the realisation of a long-held ambition.

The brunette beauty said: "It's so exciting to do something on my own. Basically, for the past almost decade my sisters and I have always had a licensing deal.

"But going from being a licensee to an owner is such a big deal and it's so much more responsibility. I feel like this is what I've been working for for 10 years."

Meanwhile, Kim previously claimed that the robbery incident in Paris helped her to grow and become stronger as a person.

The reality star took to Instagram to address the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' episode that focused on the dramatic night in the French capital.

She wrote: "I took a tragic horrific experience and did not let it diminish me, rather grew and evolved and allowed the experience to teach me. I can say I've become so much better because of it."
