Josh Duhamel has praised Fergie as an “amazing mother”

The 44-year-old actor announced in September he had split from his wife of eight years earlier in the year, but the pair have remained amicable for the sake of co-parenting their four-year-old son, Axl, something which Josh believes Fergie is incredibly good at

He said: "She's an amazing girl. She really is. She’s an amazing girl and I think more importantly, she's an amazing mother.”

Josh admitted he has been keeping his “head in the sand” since news of their split hit the headlines, but leapt to the defence of the 42-year-old singer.

He added: "I've honestly sort of kept my head in the sand throughout this whole thing. But, I've heard that there's been, you know, things said about her. She’s an amazing mother. That's really what I have to say about her.”

The ‘Safe Haven’ star insisted he and his estranged wife have a “great relationship”, and still “get along great” despite parting ways.

He said: "She's amazingly talented and we have a great relationship. We are parenting our son as healthy as we can. And she and I get along great.”

And Josh also revealed their son is “flourishing”.

Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, he said: "Axl's doing great. He really is. The kid gets so much love. He's flourishing.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Fergalicious’ hitmaker recently revealed everything is “staying the same” between her and Josh, as they are focusing on co-parenting their son.

She said: "I'm good, as good as you can be with a separation. The good thing is we don't lose each other as parents.

"Everything basically is staying the same, except we're not a romantic couple anymore.

"I love Josh. We're making it work. We're both working full time right now. We are just making it happen. We've got Axl and we're just working parents."
