The Wellington City Council's voted to save the iconic Basin Reserve Museum Stand
17 May 2018
The Council's City Strategy Committee voted unanimously in favour of spending 7.7 million dollars to strengthen the stand and refurbish it.
It's been closed to spectators since 2012 when it was found to be earthquake prone.
The main entrance, staircase and exterior will be returned to original condition and there'll be spaces for the Cricket Museum and Cricket Wellington offices.
The Council will be funding 6.7 million of the project, with the Basin Reserve Trust contributing the rest.
