MetService has issued snowfall warnings for 4 highways

On the Desert Road tonight and early tomorrow, up to 3cm of snow is expected to fall to 700 metres.
On the Rimutaka Hill Road, 1cm of snow is likely between now and tomorrow morning - also down to 700 metres.
In the South Island, Lewis Pass is in for about 3cm of snow down to 500 metres between now and the morning.
Porters Pass is likely to have 1cm of snow down to 500 metres overnight tonight.
