Insurers are being inundated with claims from last month's major storm in Auckland
29 May 2018
AA Insurance says the storm has resulted in six time as many claims as Cyclone Gita, which struck the country in March.
Customer relations manager Amelia Macandrew says most claims were related to fallen trees.
Branches struck roofs, ploughed through boundary fences and fell on carports, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
Macandrew says many incidents could be avoided by people pruning or removing weakened trees.
