New Plymouth District Council has announced a safety upgrade to the intersection where a school girl died in Inglewood last year

New Plymouth District Council has announced a safety upgrade to the intersection where a school girl died in Inglewood last year

Seven-year-old Emma Warren was hit by a truck at the Miro and Rata Streets intersection in September while riding her bike home from school.

The council removed the intersection's pedestrian crossing in December, and will introduce a pedestrian safety island as part of the upgrade.

Changes to parking spaces will be considered at a Community Board meeting next month.
