Waimakariri District Council has decided to build a multi-million dollar sports facility

Waimakariri District Council has decided to build a multi-million dollar sports facility

The six thousand square metre facility will have four indoor courts and will cost 27.85 million dollars.

Waimakariri Mayor David Ayers says it was a tough decision.

He says they had very strong support with more than 80 percent of submissions supporting the facility but at the same time they were well aware of the impact on rate payers.

David Ayers says it will cost ratepayers about 91 dollars each per year.
