Oprah Winfrey thinks the wedding between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was "transformative"

The 64-year-old media mogul was among the guests when Prince Harry tied the knot with Meghan Markle last month and she's praised the multicultural ceremony for making a significant "shift" that will change the world

She said: "It was more than a wedding, I thought. It was a cultural moment. And you could not be there or watching on television... and not feel that there was a shift that just happened in the middle of it.

"I think it's bigger than them and I think it bodes well for hope for all of us."

Before the wedding, Oprah spent time with Meghan's mom Doria Ragland but the 'Wrinkle in Time' actress laughed off speculation she'd showered her lunch guest with gifts in a bid to land the first interview with her.

She told 'Entertainment Tonight': "The story was that Meghan's mom had come to my house and she left laden with gifts. You know what the gifts were?

"First of all, she's great at yoga, so I said, 'Bring your yoga mat and your sneaks in case we just want to do yoga on the lawn.' So one of the bags was a yoga mat and the other was lunch.

"She said, 'I love kumquats,' and I said, 'I have a kumquat tree! You want some kumquats?' So it was a basket of kumquats, people.

"For all of the people who said I am getting her gifts and I'm trying to bribe her for an interview -- they were kumquats. If kumquats can get you an interview, I'm all for it!"

Oprah previously revealed the pink Stella McCartney outfit she wore to the wedding was created for her in just one day.

Sharing a video on Instagram, she said: "I would like to thank the Stella McCartney team for working all night long to get this dress finished because we had dressgate. Wrong colour. Now we got the right color. I think we're going to do okay."

And in the caption, Oprah gushed about the "extraordinary" day.

She wrote on the photo sharing site: "Thank you @stellamccartney ! Realized Friday morning the beige dress I was planning to wear to Royal ceremony would photograph too "white" for a wedding. Her team did this overnite. Hat is vintage @philiptreacy been in my closet since 2005 with new feathers. OMG was this an extraordinary day! #Harry&Meghan #RoyalWedding #Lovedeveryminute (sic)"
