A 31-year-old man appeared in the Wellington District Court today charged with murdering a five-month-old boy.
The baby was discovered with serious head injuries at an Upper Hutt address on Monday and later died in hospital.
Upper Hutt Mayor Wayne Guppy says people in the community will be upset and questioning why an incident like this happened.
He says these tragic events continually happen and it's an issue for the whole country.
