New Zealand Rugby League have released a list of 20 marquee players who have been officially put forward for the competition, along with 40 players from Australia.

Each squad is allowed 22 players and a maximum of 15 marquee players in each squad.

NZRL caretaker High Performance Manager Nigel Vagana says the players essentially go into a draft amongst the four clubs.

Vagana says the clubs will challenge for the players and once they have been picked from the pool, the remaining players become free agents.

All four NRL women's squads will be finalised by the end of July.
