New Zealand Football President Deryck Shaw has been caught off guard by Andy Martin's retirement
29 June 2018
The NZF CEO announced he'll leave New Zealand Football, despite just last week insisting he's staying.
Martin's come under overwhelming pressure following his handling of allegations of a toxic environment being created by Football Ferns coach and NZF technical director Andreas Heraf.
Shaw says it was a shock as he also thought Martin would be sticking around.
But he says the board wishes Martin all the best.
Deryck Shaw says the use of the word retire rather than resign has been at Martin's request.
