Former All Blacks utility Luke McAlister has announced his retirement from rugby

The 34 year old made his international debut at first-five during the third test of the 2005 British and Irish Lions series, before earning a further 29 test caps.
McAlister made his provincial debut for North Harbour in 2002, before going on to play 51 Super Rugby games for the Blues.
McAlister left New Zealand's shores for a permanent move to Europe in 2011 and most recently turned out for the Barbarians during their win over England.
