The Real Estate Institute is reinforcing its call for regulation of property managers

It follows a spate of complaints...including the case of tenants in Auckland who found maggots under a carpet.
In a separate incident a woman in Christchurch battled for 18 months to get curtains in her rental.
Institute chief Bindi Norwell says it's a case of a few bad apples dragging down an entire industry.
She says there's a lot fantastic property managers out there, but because of a lack of regulation, a few don't live up to the standard.
Norwell says regulation would allow tenants to hold property managers accountable when it's necessary.
