It comes after Palmerston North man Bilal Shurab had more than 13 hundred listings on his Trade Me account in less than a year, but failed to declare he was 'in trade'.
The status is for prolific sellers, and lets buyers know the sale is protected by the Fair Trading and Consumers Guarantees Acts.
The man also was charged for selling an unsafe baby cot after the Commerce Commission informed him it didn't meet safety requirements.
In total, Shurab was fined five thousand dollars for the offences.
