    Wellington is closing the gap on Auckland in the race to be the highest earning area in the country


    Latest Trade Me Jobs figures show there is just a two dollar difference in average wage between the two areas.

    Auckland is narrowly leading the way with an average wage of 71-thousand-560 dollars.

    In Wellington its 71-thousand-558.

    Average salaries in Wellington are up a solid seven per cent from this time last year, while Auckland's wage growth has been stagnant, rising just 0.2 per cent.
