The Police Minister's launching two new schemes to cut crime in Auckland

An iwi community justice panel is being set up in west Auckland.
It's the 11th of it's kind in the country.
Police will be able to refer low-scale offenders for a hearing to the panel - which will see offenders make up for their crime through financial reparation or community service.
The offender has to admit guilt and work on a plan to go straight.
Police Minister Stuart Nash is confident it will reduce offending and reoffending by young Maori.
He's also announced a ew community policing base for Beachlands - following a surge in crime in the Auckland seaside suburb during summer months.
