Mahe Drysdale will have a historic memento with him when he races against compatriot Robbie Manson at this weekend's world cup rowing regatta in Switzerland

The best placed Kiwi in Lucerne will man the single sculls boat at September's world championships in Bulgaria.

Drysdale's coach Calvin Ferguson says he will race in the same boat which he won gold in at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Ferguson he' just had to get used to rowing it again as it's a bit smaller, but there's confidence in it as he won gold in it previously.

The Lucerne world cup regatta begins on Friday evening.
