Tides are tipped to peak at around 3 point 7 metres in Auckland at 8.30 tomorrow morning and again at 9pm.
WeatherWatch analyst Philip Duncan says the weather will cause problems tomorrow, and on Monday.
He says some areas could get between 50 and 100 millimetres.
Northland, Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Nelson are the areas likely to be most affected.
