Rental prices are continuing to reach record highs in Auckland and Wellington

Trade Me's rental price index for June, found the weekly median rent in Auckland remains at an all-time high of 550-dollars.

The Wellington region also remained at a record 480-dollars a week, for a third consecutive month.

Head of Property, Nigel Jefferies, says they've seen demand move from the central cities to the suburbs.

He says people are looking at the alternatives, and considering larger housing, as well as price verse convenience.

Christchurch's median rent was up 1.3 percent since last June to 350-dollars a week.
