The Rescue Co-ordination centre says the 29 year old was found about 5 pm
just north of the plateau at Quarterdeck pass.
He was standing up waving at them when the Southern Lakes and Mt Aspiring
helicopters arrived.
Spokesperson Pania Shingleton says the helicopter crews and police did an
amazing job.
She says they are with him right now looking after him on the mountain and
they will evacuate him tomorrow as soon as the mountain is clear.
Pania Shingleton says he's in good spirits with slight frost bite.
