Firefighters are still at the scene of a fire at a pharmaceutical manufacturing factory in west Auckland

The blaze has been contained to the chemical oven at Douglas Pharmaceuticals
on Te Pai Place in Henderson.

Smoke was spotted coming from the roof, however, an automatic sprinkler
system has extinguished the fire in that part of the building.

Witness Terry Nicholas say there is a hive of activity in the area including
    banked up traffic.

He says staff can be seen outside the factory.

There are no reports of injuries.

Drivers are being told to avoid the area with signifcant delays expected.
