The director of Auckland's landmark park is warning the public to take extra care around livestock at this time of the year

This comes after Vietnam war veteran Cliff McMahon was badly injured trying to protect a woman from a herd of cows in Manukau's Totara Park on Sunday.
Cornwall Park director Michael Ayrton says this is a particularly dangerous time of year and a lot of people don't realise the risks.
He says many are unaware cows are large animals and very maternal.
Ayrton says this is particularly so in Spring when they have calves at foot.
