Players left the course around 8:30am New Zealand time, 3:30pm local as the rainclouds closed in and were unable to return.
Tournament leader Gary Woodland was already back in the clubhouse, one shot clear of Kevin Kisner and another from Brooks Koepka , both of whom have also finished.
Kiwi Ryan Fox is three-under for the tournament, one-under for the day through 12 holes.
He'll be forced to complete his third round from midnight tonight, before all going to plan, his third round.
