A new trial using medicinal cannabis to treat epilepsy in children has returned exceptional results
13 August 2018
The trial at Sydney Children's Hospital showed all but one of a trial group
of 40 saw positive results from using medicinal cannabis to treat their
condition.
Epilepsy New Zealand chief executive Graeme Ambler says drug
resistant epilepsy is what they're trying to combat with the trial.
He says just under one third of people diagnosed with epilepsy will fall into
this group.
Ambler says there are around 48-thousand people in New Zealand with epilepsy,
and six people are diagnosed everyday.
