A Southland helicopter pilot involved in a fatal crash is on trial in Queenstown today

A Southland helicopter pilot involved in a fatal crash is on trial in Queenstown today

The 2016 crash near Lindis Pass left Murray Sarginson seriously injured, and his co-worker dead.

The Otago Daily Times reports Sarginson is charged with reckless conduct in respect of duty, and failure to comply with duty ... that exposes an individual to risk of death

He is also charged with operating an aircraft in a manner that exposed a passenger to unnecessary danger.

The trial is expected to take the rest of the week.
