The 14-time major winner finished two shots back from winner Brooks Koepka
at the PGA Championship, alone in second.
That has seen him vault to 11th in the American player standings for
selection in the Ryder Cup in France next month.
The top eight has already qualified, but Woods could get there on a captain's
pick.
Woods will be at the event regardless as he has been named as a vice-captain.
Kiwi golfer Ryan Fox, who posted his best major finish in a share of 27th,
says the atmosphere surrounding Woods as he went down the stretch with a chance
was amazing.
