An 80 year old woman is in Auckland hospital with head injuries after her handbag was violently snatched.

An 80 year old woman is in Auckland hospital with head injuries after her handbag was violently snatched.

The woman was leaving a supermarket carpark in Remuera yesterday afternoon when a man grabbed her bag.

During an ensuing struggle she fell hard to the ground and hit her head.

The young robber jumped into a car and was driven away.

Police have since found the car at an address in Rotorua.

They've arrested a 25 year old woman who they believe was driving the vehicle - but are still looking for the bag snatcher.

They've named him as as 23-year-old Jaedon Dawson.

Dawson has a number of tattoos including the words 'Respect Maori Blood' on his chest."
