Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, said to be "upset" but not "surprised" by father Thomas Markle's outbursts

The 37-year-old former actress - who was known as Meghan Markle before she married Prince Harry three months ago - has been left red faced by her dad Thomas Markle and her estranged sibling Samantha Markle's recent cruel remarks regarding her and the royal family.

And whilst she is believed to be saddened by the ordeal - which has involved Thomas claiming his daughter would be "nothing" without him - she isn't "shocked or surprised" by his behaviour, as it is allegedly nothing new to her.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Nothing could be further from the truth. His behaviour is something she has had to deal with for most of her adult life. There has been a long history of 'dad disappointment' with her life being splattered with upset because of her relationship with him. She isn't shocked or surprised by his behaviour and dealt with it all with a lot of grace."

Thomas, 74, was initially expressing how upset he was that he hadn't heard from Meghan since before the wedding, which he was forced to pull out of in order to have heart surgery, but his remarks became nastier and more revealing with time.

He said in one interview: "I refuse to stay quiet. What riles me is Meghan's sense of superiority. She'd be nothing without me. I made her the duchess she is today. Everything that Meghan is, I made her.

"I was having my good years then, making good money, and could afford to give her the best, with a good school, good education, good home. She became the woman that she is today thanks to everything I did for her. And did I get any recognition for it? Any thanks? She doesn't even speak to me now. How cold is that?"

Meanwhile, it was recently claimed Kensington Palace have decided they need to intervene because the feud is becoming embarrassing for the royals.

A source said: "The Palace, which normally takes a firm policy of not commenting on personal matters, is now considering a more aggressive strategy to deal with the situation with both her father and her sister."
