Hurunui District's Mayor is calling for a review of the Freedom Camping Act
16 August 2018
The government has announced 8.5 million dollars is available for immediate actions recommended by the Responsible Camping Working Group.
Mayor Winton Dalley says they didn't apply for any funding this time round, but in the past they've used grants to put in caravan dump sites, electric charging sites points and toilets.
He says the council will discuss the controversial new Hanmer Springs freedom camping bylaw today.
