Lily Allen’s tell-all book is to be released in September

The 'Smile' hitmaker has announced that she will be dropping her own memoir titled 'My Thoughts Exactly' next month, although an official date is yet to be released, as she gives her fans an insight into her "chaotic life", thoughts and opinions

Speaking of the memoir, Lily said: "Some of it I think might be uncomfortable and shocking and brutal. There will be good stuff in there too, happy times. I will try and make it funny. I know it's about me but I hope that a lot of it will ring true with anyone who reads it. It won't be written with shame. It will be true."

The book will consist of a collection of essays that will depict her life in which she "depended on drink, drugs and sex to get through the days."

She'll also touch on her obsession with love, her dependence on music as well as delve into topics like "feminism, the tabloids, money, faking orgasms, bad managers, fame, sexual abuse, mental health, narcissism, co-dependency, festivals, motherhood, stalking and parking tickets."

Lily shot into the limelight when she was 19 years old and she recently said being scrutinised from a young age was detrimental to her mental health.

She explained: "I was 19 or 20 when Smile came out. I must have been 25-26 [years old] when I had Ethel, my oldest. I did all of those things under the microscope, under the spotlight. There were fun elements to it, but it was pretty intense at times."

The 33-year-old singer had a particularly bad relationship with her body in her 20s and she has revealed she would sleep for "days" so that she didn't have to eat.

She added: "I didn't eat. I used to sleep for days, so that I didn't eat. My relationship with my body was not great in my 20s. I think I presented myself in quite a defiant way and I didn't want to care. But it felt like people came down on me three times as hard because of that. It was juggling the 'I don't careness' with 'I do care'."
