A transformer has caught alight in south Auckland, causing clouds of black smoke and large flames

Four fire crews are dealing with the blaze, on Cavendish Drive in Manukau.

A witness says he saw a box on fire, and everyone running towards it to see
what was happening.

He says traffic has come to a standstill and there's black smoke everywhere.

Many properties in the area may be without power for some time.
