The Health and Disability has roundly criticised serious flaws in the medical treatment given to a young car crash victim in 2014, who later died

From her behaviour, doctors assumed the woman was drunk when admitted, but
she actually had serious brain injuries.
They were going to monitor and discharge her when she became more alert.
They also didn't remove a piece of glass from her back, attend to her hygiene
needs, or give her food or water for a while.
Eight hours after admission she was rushed to ICU and later died.
A doctor and two nurses also changed the woman's clinical notes, after the
fact.
The HDC criticism includes two doctors, three nurses, St John Central
Ambulance Service, and the Ngati Porou Hauora Charitable Trust.
