An East Auckland school principal's smoothing over students' frustration about a compulsory laptop-based exam
20 August 2018
A student at Botany Downs Secondary School started an online petition, saying students would have to fork out for a new laptop.
NCEA wants their exams to be sat digitally by 2020, and some schools are trialling practice exams.
Principal Karen Brinsden says they expect students to have laptops - but they have about 120 available for use, too.
She says it's not an NCEA exam - so most likely won't count.
Brinsden says it's mostly a non-issue - and they want to have it right when real exams are sat online.
