A digger stolen in Queenstown could be just the tip of the iceberg in building site thefts

A digger stolen in Queenstown could be just the tip of the iceberg in building site thefts

The digger and $5000 worth of tools were stolen in burglaries at two separate
Queenstown construction sites on the weekend.

Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka says they suspect the two cases are linked.

She says they don't have many thefts, and tools, trailers and diggers all
being taken at the same time is suspicious.

Enoka says there could be more undetected thefts, but trying to catch every
possible victim is difficult with a transient workforce.
