Drugs and cigarettes are believed to be the motivation behind a rise in door-step thefts in Christchurch

Since media attention earlier this month, they have had six additional calls
from people reporting items missing from their homes in Hornby and Rolleston.

Senior Constable Bruce Ward says the young people are looking for items to
sell.

He thinks it's money for drugs and cigarettes.
