Pallet workers in Christchurch want pay parity with their colleagues in Auckland

Around 50 workers are striking today at the Christchurch site of Chep NZ which provides supply chain platforms..
First Union says workers in the South Island have a starting rate of 16 dollars 56.. with the majority of workers on 17 dollars an hour.
He says they'd require an 11 percent pay rise to equal the pay of workers at the site in the Auckland suburb of Wiri.
Delegate Ian Burrett says workers are living in makeshift homes because the pay is so low.
He says the pay rise of an extra 1.50 an hour - amounts to three days of profit for the company..
