The American world number three heads into the event as defending champion
after achieving her maiden grand slam victory at Flushing Meadows a year ago.

Sloane Stephens is underway tomorrow morning, as are world number one Simona

Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka and Andy Murray are all in day one
action in the men's draw.
