The kiwi pole vaulter has been forced to withdraw from the prestigious
Diamond League final in Zurich later this week with a heel injury.
It's the second straight event McCartney has been forced out of, but manager
Scott Newman hopes that will be the last.
He says the intention is to compete at the IAAF Continental
Cup in Ostrava next weekend.
Tom Walsh will fly the flag alone in Zurich, although the world champion
shotputter is battling to find form.
Walsh threw a personal best off 22.57m in Auckland in March, but has failed
to crack 22m in his last five outings.
He feels he's moving back toward that sort of form after a good training
session today.
The Zurich Diamond League final is on Friday morning and is Walsh's third to
last event of his season before a summer break.
