Wairarapa Police are searching for a man who threatened a student with a screwdriver this morning

Wairarapa Police are searching for a man who threatened a student with a screwdriver this morning

Just after 10 o'clock the student saw someone trying to break into a car outside Wairarapa College.

Senior Sergeant Barry Bysouth says once the would-be thief realised he was being watched - he threatened the student and ran away.

He says the school did the right thing by calling police and keeping students inside until police could confirm there was no more risk.
