The explosion on Don Buck Road, in Henderson, last night, is believed to have been caused by a welding accident.
A woman at the cordon has said the man who died was a visitor.
Herald reporter Ryan Dunlop is at the scene and says several fire and emergency services are still in the area.
He say there's a significant presence of fire and police personnel - as well as people slowing to see what's going on.
He say from the road you can see debris scattered across the ground and police photographers entering the scene.
