Venod Skantha is charged with murdering 16-year-old Amber-Rose Rush, who was found dead in her home in February.
The Otago Daily Times report his application in the Dunedin High Court for electronically monitored bail was denied.
Skantha appealed the decision, but a written judgement released today says his appeal was dismissed.
