The hospital doctors' union is scathing about health boards' willingness to protect their staff from violence patients

Multiple unions have contacted Waitemata DHB - which runs North Shore and
Waitakere Hospitals - over the course of a year, worried about staff being
subject to violence at work.
Some security staff are now wearing body cameras to try capture, and deter,
offenders.
The Resident Doctors Association says violence in hospitals is a problem all
over the country, but more so in Auckland, due to the higher demand and
staffing pressures.
National Secretary Deborah Powell says DHBs are complacent, and don't
properly recognise their responsibility to keep their staff safe.
She says some staff think they have to accept being hit or injured at work.
