Far East Saw Mill will receive 500 thousand dollars to increase its wood processing capacity, creating 50 local jobs.
Regional Economic Development Minister Shane Jones says only four percent of raw logs are milled in Tairawhiti, but there's potential to increase that to 25 percent - pumping about 120 million dollars a year into the region.
And just over 300 thousand dollars will go to a forestry school pilot to tackle the skills shortage - starting with 11 trainees, and nine new jobs running the course.
