A street party, thrown by the Provincial Growth Fund
7 September 2018
The East Coast is getting 137-million dollars from the Fund for roading infrastructure.
About 13-million dollars will go towards tourism initiatives, and another 1.3 to forestry.
But roads soak up 90 percent of the region's entire funding package.
Gisborne Chamber of Commerce's Paul Naske admits it's a big proportion, but he says roads are in dire need, and are critical to the region's prosperity.
He says they've been battling for funding, and it's a sensible decision.
