Brent Wall made a brief appearance in the Palmerston North District Court, where he pleaded not guilty to deception by match-fixing.
The 47-year-old is jointly charged with two others of committing the crime by manipulating the overall result of race six at the Manawatu Harness Racing Club meeting on May 22.
It's alleged he caused a loss of more than one-thousand dollars to other people by assisting a horse named Sportscaster to win.
He's been remanded on bail until next month.
Eleven people in total have been charged following a major police probe into alleged race-fixing and drugs in the harness racing industry.
Five men and one woman are also due to appear in court in Christchurch today.
