The Wellington Phoenix have confirmed they are trying to lure another former English Premier League player to the Capital

    - article from www.rugbyleague.co.nz

The A-League club have been in talks with former Newcastle United and Inter
Milan striker Obafemi Martins around signing him as a marquee player.

The former Nigerian international has been playing for Chinese club Shanghai
Shenhua but has been unavailable due to injury.

Phoenix coach Mark Rudan says Martins is keen to play, but fitting him into
their salary cap poses another speed-bump.

He says they're yet to hear back from Martins and his agent, but they should
know more in the next 24 hours.
