A crash near Porirua is causing problems for those driving north on State Highway One

The single car crash happened near the Paremata roundabout just before six this morning.

One person has been taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Police are advising drivers to avoid travelling north through the area if they can.

The road should be cleared within the hour, but drivers can expect delays.
